What you think about you bring about!

What you are thinking about and acting upon you will bring about. It may seem like a very simple statement and it is. It reminds me of another statement that almost sounds prophetic “You will find what you have lost in the last place that you look”. Truth being told I believe in both.
In business and in life you can look around you and see that there are many examples of people bringing about what they are thinking about. Call it perseverance, determination, stick-to-it-tiveness, focus or any number of terms and it all means producing results. Remember not all results are tangible, quantifiably or even good.
I recently spoke to a business owner in the construction industry whose company was not producing the quality results or service that it had in the past. The reason was that the company had let go of one of their “Salesman” who managed most accounts. In this slower economy the business owner only looked at bottom line results and therefore he overlooked a prime function of his company. The salesman was not the hard sell type of sales person, he was just out there in the field or a phone call away, available, anytime you needed him. The results that he produced were not necessarily tangible but were what I consider the backbone of our American service industry. Being there for the customer and letting them know that you are there long before you are ever needed.
I do not judge a company by what they do when things are going right; the true measure of a company is how they perform when things are going wrong. In this example the company is now failing because they are bringing about what they are thinking about. That is to say they are thinking that the salesman was a non performing asset when in reality he was the glue that was holding the fabric of the company together.
The moral of the story is to be careful of what you are thinking about, and remember that if you keep your thoughts in business and in life positive you are most likely heading in the right direction. If you expect positive results you must think and act in a positive way.
Remember the great thinkers of our time have produced as many profound results as the doers of our time.
